Vaitheeswaran koil
Vaitheeswaran koil is the main center of Nadi astrology. In Vaitheeswarn koil, Lord Shiva is said to take on the role of a vaidya or healer to alleviate the worries and sufferings of his devotees. In this temple, Lord Shiva is worshiped as Vaidyanathar or Vaitheeswaran, meaning “God who saves”, and it is believed that prayers to Vaitheeswaran can cure diseases. When speaking in Tamil it sounds like “vaideeswaran”. It is one of the nine Navagrahas (nine planets) and is associated with the planet Mars (Angaraka). There is holy water called Siddhamirtham in the temple, which contains nectar, and it is believed that holy immersion in this water cures all diseases.
Many siddhas today performed abhishek to the Lord with nector at this place and benefited greatly from it. Nector was used for abhishek mixed with holy water. 18 teerthas are mixed in this sacred temple tank which cures all diseases suffered by people. Lord vaidyanatha not only cured the physical suffering of people but also cured them from recurring diseases of birth and death. God is very powerful here to solve people’s planetary problems and fulfill all wishes of devotees.
